The future is unknown, but it is probable that climate change in B.C. will express itself in the form of extremes. Whether excessive precipitation in short bursts or heat waves and extended drought, our current landscapes are starting to reveal the limits of capacity to withstand these extremes (that may only continue to intensify). This seminar explores plant selection as a nature-based solution for resilience, and invites landscape designers, planners, managers, gardeners and growers to engage creatively with the task at hand. What will future landscapes look like in BC that are water sensitive, biodiverse, non-toxic, nutritious, beautiful and regenerative? We will consider plant selection for various urban landscapes, including green roofs.
